Indian Army conducts high-altitude avalanche rescue drills in Tawang

Itanagar, Jan 14 (UNI) Experienced mountaineers of the Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) Team conducted joint avalanche rescue drills with troops of Gajraj Corps in the forward areas of Tawang at an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet.
The intensive training focused on avalanche risk mitigation, specialised rescue techniques, and survival skills essential for operating in extreme high-altitude and harsh weather conditions. Emphasis was placed on realistic, hands-on scenarios to enhance preparedness for real-life emergencies.
The drills significantly strengthened rapid response capabilities and life-saving skills, enabling troops to operate more safely and effectively in some of the most challenging mountainous terrain. Such joint training initiatives underscore the Indian Army’s continued commitment to operational readiness, interoperability, and mission effectiveness in extreme environments, Defence sources said on Wednesday.
