New Delhi, Dec 13 (UNI) The Delhi government has issued directions under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, mandating that all government offices under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and all private offices operating within the National Capital Territory of Delhi function with 50 percent staff strength.
The remaining staff have been directed to work from home. The order has been issued under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and will remain in force until further directions.
In a separate order, the Delhi Education Department has directed all Heads of Schools of Government, Government-aided and Unaided Recognised Private Schools in Delhi to conduct classes for students up to Class IX and Class XI in a hybrid mode. Under this arrangement, classes will be conducted both in physical and online mode, wherever the online mode is feasible. The order has come into effect immediately and will continue until further instructions are issued.

SC mulls monitoring upkeep of Delhi’s neglected heritage sites

The observation was made while hearing a matter concerning illegal encroachment on the Lodhi-era Shaikh Ali ‘Gumti’, a nearly 500-year-old tomb of archaeological significance.

'India key growth engine for the world' : IMF

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has described India as a ‘’key growth engine for the world’’ and said the third-quarter growth (in India) has come out stronger than expected.
Julie Kozack, Director, Communications Department, of the IMF, said at a press conference that IMF had estimated India’s growth for Fiscal Year 2025-2026
at 6.6 per cent based on strong consumption growth. However, the third quarter growth in India came out much stronger.

SC declines to entertain plea alleging glitches in UMEED Waqf portal

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a writ petition filed by a Mutawalli alleging technical glitches in the Central Government’s UMEED Portal used for uploading details of Waqf properties.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, while dismissing the petition, granted liberty to the petitioner to approach the concerned authorities for redressal of grievances.
