India Rules Out Bangladesh Front Amid China-Pak Axis

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has dismissed fears of Bangladesh emerging as a third front after Pakistan and China, saying the Indian military leadership has been in talks with the top brass in Dhaka and there is no such indication as of now.
General Dwivedi said this in response to questions at the annual press conference here on Tuesday. He clarified that the Army is constantly monitoring the situation there. “First of all, it is important to understand what kind of government is in Bangladesh. If it is an interim government, we have to see whether the steps they are taking are for four to five years or only for four to five months," he said.
“One has to think about whether we need a response immediately or not. Secondly, the channels of the three services are fully open. I am in regular touch with the Army Chief there. Similarly, we are in touch through other mediums as well. We had sent a delegation there, which met all the concerned people. Similarly, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Chief of the Air Staff have also held talks," he said.
