India lose to South Korea in Asia Mixed Team Championships

Qingdao (China), Feb 13 (UNI) Men’s singles player Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and women’s doubles duo Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly put up spirited performances, but India went down 2-3 against South Korea in their second Group D clash of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025 here on Thursday.
Having already secured a place in the knockout stage, both teams battled to determine the group topper. India faced early setbacks as the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, and women’s singles player Malvika Bansod suffered defeats in their respective matches.
National Games double gold medallist Sathish revived India’s hopes with a determined performance, edging out Cho Geonyeop 17-21, 21-18, 21-19 under pressure. The world No. 9 combination of Gayatri and Treesa then kept India’s chances alive with a commendable fightback, defeating Kim Min Ji and Kim Yu Jung 19-21, 21-16, 21-11 to level the tie at 2-2.
