India, Japan sign loan agreements worth 191.736 bn for 6 projects under Japan’s ODA

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) India and Japan have signed loan agreements worth 191.736 billion Japanese Yen for six projects under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) to India in the sectors of forest management, water supply, urban transport, aquaculture, biodiversity conservation and investment promotion.
The six loan agreements were signed between the Government of India and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at New Delhi. The projects are – i) Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Program (Phase 3) (TNIPP-III) valued at JPY 36.114 billion; ii) Project for Capacity Enhancement for Effective Forest Management for JPY 8.280 billion; iii) Project for Construction of Chennai Seawater Desalination Plant (II) costing JPY 52.556 billion; iv) Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System Project (Phase 4 Additional Corridors) with a loan amount of JPY 79.726 billion; v) Assam State Aquaculture Promotion and Livelihood Improvement Project for JPY 3.580 billion; and vi) Punjab Biodiversity and Natural Resources Conservation Project with a loan amount of JPY 11.480 billion, Ministry of Finance said in an official statement on Friday.
TNIPP-III aims to provide quality jobs to the youth by attracting more investments into the State including foreign investments in an inclusive and sustainable manner, promoting emerging sectors, and also training the population in advanced manufacturing skills.

After brief relief, Delhi sizzles again as mercury touches 40°C

New Delhi, 6 Jun (UNI) After a brief respite from sweltering heat, temperatures in Delhi rise again, touching 40.0°C on Saturday and are expected to soar further, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Maximum temperatures in the national capital are expected to rise gradually in the next three days, reaching a peak of 42°C, said the IMD officials. The city’s minimum temperatures are also likely to increase by 3-5°C during the next 3-4 days, again crossing 30°C from Wednesday onwards.
