India always strong proponent of multilateralism: OM Birla in Geneva

Geneva, Oct 14 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday said India has always been a strong proponent of "multilateralism" and underscored the need for dialogue and cooperation among parliaments in the field of science, technology and innovation to achieve the common good.
Birla who is leading an Indian parliamentary delegation to the 149th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) here, said "The forum like the IPU, Parliaments would be able to pave the way for inclusive development in the world through shared action plans and joint efforts".
Addressing the Assembly on the theme "Harnessing science, technology and innovation for a more peaceful and sustainable future, the Lok Sabha Speaker said, "The collective endeavour of Parliaments across the world should be in place to ensure fair and equitable distribution of the benefits of science, technology and innovation in the world".
