Imports from Bangladesh in Tripura stopped after DGFT ban

Agartala, May 18 (UNI) The land customs authority has stopped all imports from Bangladesh from Sunday across all five land customs stations (LCS), after the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, issued a ban on imports a day ago.
DGFT banned the import of six items, including ready-made garments, processed food items (chips, snacks, and biscuits), rubber products, plastic goods, and wooden furniture from Bangladesh through Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, and West Bengal.
The notification explicitly prohibits the import of all types of ready made garments from Bangladesh via any land port along the India-Bangladesh border. Also, imports of these goods will now be restricted to seaports at Nhava Sheva (Mumbai) and Kolkata.

Shillong, June 13 (UNI) The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi has not impacted the tourist footfall in Sohra, one of the popular tourist destination in Meghalaya, State Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said on Friday.
“The footfall of tourist in Sohra is increasing. Even when the murder case is being investigated tourist continues to visit Sohra,” Lyngdoh said.

Shillong, June 13 (UNI) The Meghalaya Cabinet on Friday adopted a resolution to formally acknowledge with gratitude the various agencies, government departments, and especially the role played by the police Department in handling and cracking the recent murder of a tourist from Indore, Madhya Pradesh Raja Raghuvanshi, at Sohra last month.
