IDPs submit fresh reminder to Manipur Guv as resettlement deadline nears

Imphal, Dec 6 (UNI) Representatives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on Saturday submitted a fresh reminder memorandum to the Governor of Manipur and the Chief Secretary, urging the state government to honour its own December deadline for the complete resettlement of all displaced families.
The memorandum, issued from Lamboikhongnangkhong, Uripok, marks the latest in a series of communications by IDP groups pressing the state for visible and verifiable progress on resettlement. The document reiterates that only 26 days remain for the government to fulfil assurances earlier given to IDP representatives and endorsed by civil society bodies.
The IDP representatives acknowledged minor progress, including the recent initiation of resettlement activities in Sadu Koireng and Waroiching areas of Bishnupur district. They described these steps as “a first visible step,” but stressed that thousands of families continue to sit in relay protest camps and refuse to return home without concrete, district-wise action on the ground.
