ICC Women's T20 WC: Deepti Sharma’s five-for powers India to dominant win over Pak

Birmingham, June 14 (UNI) India Women produced a commanding allround performance to defeat Pakistan Women by 64 runs in a Group A encounter of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston on Sunday, with Deepti Sharma starring as the undisputed heroine of the match.
Deepti delivered a match-winning spell of 5 for 10, her career-best figures in T20 internationals, as Pakistan were bundled out for 106 in 17 overs while chasing a target of 171. Her precise variations, clever use of flight, and ability to strike at crucial moments broke the backbone of Pakistan’s innings and ensured India stayed firmly in control throughout the chase.
Earlier, India posted a competitive 170 for 6 after being asked to bat. The innings was anchored by a fluent half-century from Smriti Mandhana, who scored 68 off 44 deliveries with nine boundaries and two sixes. Despite early setbacks, Mandhana held the innings together with composure and timing, guiding India out of a shaky start.
