Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) City Police have issued an official clarification regarding recent media reports on the alleged theft at Raj Bhavan, which claimed that sensitive documents were stolen by outsiders. Authorities have dismissed these reports as false and misleading.
According to a press release issued by ACP Panjagutta, S. Mohan Kumar, the incident pertains to an internal disciplinary and criminal matter involving a suspended employee.
On May 10, 2025, a woman employee lodged a complaint stating that a colleague, identified as Srinivas (45), IT Hardware staff, had morphed her photographs in an indecent manner and shared them with another colleague.
Upon investigation, Srinivas was arrested on May 12 and later released on bail. He was subsequently suspended from service in accordance with legal and departmental procedures.
While under suspension, Srinivas allegedly entered the Raj Bhavan office without authorisation and took a hard disk from the system he had previously used—one believed to contain the morphed images.
Following a complaint filed by the IT manager of Raj Bhavan on May 14, a second case was registered. Srinivas was re-arrested on May 15, the hard disk was recovered, and he was sent to judicial remand.
Raj Bhavan officials emphasised that no external persons were involved and no sensitive or official documents were accessed or stolen during the incident.
Authorities have urged media outlets to verify facts before publication and to refrain from spreading misinformation that could cause unwarranted public concern.
