HPMC procures 1 lakh metric tons of Apples from growers

Shimla/Parwanoo, Nov 8 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) has procured one lakh metric tons of apples from growers this year, ensuring fair prices and timely marketing support to orchardists across the state.
Himachal Pradesh apples, are known across the country for their unique aroma and superior quality. By processing apples into various products, HPMC is helping to extend their shelf life and enhance market value, thereby providing sustained income to farmers.
Apple cultivation is considered the backbone of Himachal Pradesh’s economy, after tourism and hydropower, and supports the livelihood of nearly eight lakh people in six major apple-producing districts- Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Mandi, Chamba, and Sirmaur.
