HP: Three held with heroin in Palampur

Dharamshala, May 17 (UNI) Three persons, including two residents of Punjab, were arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after police recovered 5.59 grams of heroin, commonly known as “chitta,” from a vehicle near Om Project at Suradi in Palampur sub-division of Kangra district, police said today.
Kangra district superintendent of police Ashok Rattan told UNI that the contraband was recovered on May 16 from vehicle number PB01E-7044 during a checking operation conducted by Police Station Palampur.
He said that the accused have been identified as Ashish, a resident of Peerubanda, Salem Tabri Gali No. 2 near Shamshan Ghat, Ludhiana, Punjab, who was driving the vehicle; Ishaan, a resident of Khaira in Palampur tehsil of Kangra district, who was sitting on the front passenger seat; and Varun Sahota, a resident of Soni Mohalla near Petrol Pump, Bharat Nagar Chowk Kachheri, Ludhiana, Punjab, who was seated in the rear seat of the vehicle.
