HP: Mild 3.6 magnitude earthquake jolts parts of Mandi District

Mandi, Jan 5 (UNI) Mild tremors were felt in parts of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh today afternoon after an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck the region.
According to available information, the earthquake occurred at around 12:57 pm. The epicentre was located near Mandi, and the tremors originated at a depth of about five kilometres beneath the surface. Residents in and around the district reported brief shaking, which caused momentary panic among people.
However, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property from any part of the district. Officials said the situation remains normal and there is no cause for alarm.

Lawyer shot dead in Rampur Panchayat office dispute

Rampur, Feb 11 (UNI) A 45-year-old lawyer was shot dead inside the Rampur District Panchayat office on Wednesday afternoon following a dispute with a clerk.
The deceased has been identified as Farooq, a practicing advocate for nearly 30 years. The accused is Asghar Ali, a clerk at the district panchayat office.

ED raids British citizen's house over alleged financial irregularities around Madrasa

Sant Kabir Nagar, Feb 11 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of Maulana Shamshul Huda, a British citizen originally from Sant Kabir Nagar district.
A three-member ED team from Lucknow reached his house in the Meeth Mandi area under Khalilabad Kotwali limits around 8 AM. The officials seized the mobile phones of family members present at the house and began questioning his wife and daughter-in-law. His son, Tausif Raza, was reportedly not present during the raid.
