Hindi is on the verge of becoming a global language : Amit Shah

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that Hindi language and regional languages are like friends and there cannot be any competition between them.
Speaking at the Fourth Akhil Bhartiya Rajbhasha Sammelan at the Bharat Mandapam here, Shah said, "Our country is not a geo political country but a geo cultural country and the only thing that binds our country is its culture".
He said, "If our country is connected with our culture then our culture is connected with our languages and the day we lose our languages then the unity of our country will be in danger," the Home Minister said.
He said that even our Freedom fighters struggled hard to make Hindi our Rashtra Bhasha and also promoted it.
Shah said that great leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Raja ji, Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, all came from non-hindi speaking places but they thought that Hindi language was a medium to keep the country united.
The Minister said that Hindi is on the verge of becoming a global language and today it has become a language of the UN and a second language in more than 10 countries.
He launched the Diamond Jubilee Special Issue of ‘Rajbhasha Bharti’ magazine on the occasion of the Official Language Diamond Jubilee.
Shah released a commemorative postage stamp and coin.
Present on the occasion were Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar and others.
