Hindi is being imposed to erase Marathi language and culture, we will not allow it: Congress' Sapkal

Mumbai, June 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshvardhan Sapkal here today alleged that the BJP intends to use Hindi imposition as a means to "eradicate Marathi language and culture", and declared that the Congress will not allow this under any circumstances.
Speaking to reporters, Sapkal said that Chief Minister Fadnavis is adamant about enforcing Hindi as the medium of instruction from Grade 1 in Maharashtra. While there is no opposition to Hindi or any language, education experts have consistently emphasised that primary education should be imparted in the mother tongue.
He alleged that CM Fadnavis is executing the plan by the BJP and the RSS to "eradicate Marathi language and culture".
