Himachal Pradesh expands social security net through inclusive pension and welfare reforms

Shimla, Jan 11 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh has expanded social security net through inclusive pension and welfare reforms. The Himachal Pradesh government under Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has strengthened its social security framework by placing inclusive growth, welfare and social justice at the core of governance.
An offical spokesperson said here on Sunday that through a series of policy reforms and targeted initiatives, the government aims to ensure timely, transparent and dignified delivery of economic support to vulnerable sections, reinforcing the social safety net across the state.
"A major reform undertaken by the state government has been the removal of the income ceiling and the mandatory Gram Sabha approval for widowed, deserted and single women, as well as for persons with 40 to 69 per cent disability seeking social security pensions. The move has significantly simplified access to pensions and reduced procedural barriers, particularly for women and persons with disabilities who often face administrative challenges," he said.
