Himachal: LoP Thakur slams govt over RTI move, thanks Centre for Rs 288 Cr Disaster Aid

Dharamshala, March 14 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today criticised the Himachal Pradesh government over its stance on the Right to Information (RTI), alleging that the move reflected internal pressure and attempts to control ministers and MLAs through vigilance investigations.
He said the people of the state want to know why the government appears apprehensive about RTI, which is meant to bring information related to corruption and human rights violations into the public domain. "If the government is transparent, it should not fear the law," he said, urging the Chief Minister to withdraw the decision and present the truth before the public.
Thakur also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah for approving an additional Rs 288.39 crore as disaster relief to compensate for losses caused by natural disasters in 2025.
