Himachal HC fines GAD secretary for illegal allotment of govt accommodation

Shimla, Nov 11 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD) for allotting government accommodation in violation of established regulations.
The court also cancelled the controversial allotment made from the general pool and directed that the penalty amount be deposited in the Chief Justice’s Disaster Relief Fund.
A bench of Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua found that officials of the state government failed to follow due process of law while making the housing allotments. The court observed that the authorities ignored legal procedures and acted beyond their jurisdiction.
