Himachal govt to adopt multi-pronged strategy to curb chitta trafficking and abuse

Shimla, Jan 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh government has announced to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to curb chitta trafficking and abuse, integrating enforcement, prevention, rehabilitation and community participation to tackle the drug menace in Himachal Pradesh.
As part of this strategy, Anti-Chitta Gram Sabhas will be held in all Gram Panchayats of the state on January 21 and 22, 2026, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, while presiding over a meeting of senior officers here on Monday evening.
The Chief Minister said the Gram Sabhas would review local-level information related to chitta, identify affected areas and focus on the rehabilitation of youth struggling with drug addiction.
