Himachal Govt accuses Centre of apathy during rain tragedy

Shimla, Dec 11 (UNI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu marked the Congress government’s two years in power by shedding light on the state’s economic hurdles and criticising the Centre for its inadequate support during the recent natural disasters.
Speaking at a Congress rally in Bilaspur, he highlighted both the achievements and the challenges faced by his government.
Sukhu stated that his government borrowed only Rs 9,000 crore in two years, while repaying Rs 7,800 crore in loan principal and Rs 11,288 crore in interest. This contrasts with the BJP's previous term, which saw borrowings of Rs 25,000 crore. He attributed the financial constraints to inheriting an empty treasury with just Rs 2,000 crore left by the BJP, insufficient to pay salaries and pensions.
