Heavy tourist rush into Shimla, over 23,000 vehicles enter via Shoghi

Shimla, June 12 (UNI): As many as 23,000 vehicles entered Shimla district through the Shoghi entry point till Friday evening, including around 12,000 vehicles from other states, reflecting the heavy influx of tourists during the ongoing summer season.
According to a police official, the traffic personnel remained on high alert throughout the day and responded promptly to incidents that had the potential to disrupt traffic flow.
Several cases of vehicle breakdowns and other traffic obstructions were reported from different parts of the district. In the Shoghi barrier area, two road accidents and two incidents involving breakdown of heavy vehicles occurred, raising the possibility of traffic disruptions on one of the busiest routes leading to Shimla, said the official.
