Heated argument of Minister Desai with Opposition in Maha Assembly over slum redevelopment

Mumbai, July 15 (UNI) The Maharashtra Assembly today witnessed a heated argument between Minister Shambhuraj Desai and opposition leaders over the issue of redevelopment works on slum areas and lands owned by central agencies and defence authorities in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs Varun Sardesai and Aaditya Thackeray, along with BJP MLA Ram Kadam, raised concerns regarding the lack of development in slum areas and pending redevelopment projects on defence and central government lands within their constituencies. They demanded clear timelines and commitments from the government.
In response, Minister Desai gave a brief reply based only on official documentation, which sparked objections from the opposition.MLA Sardesai said, "You are only reading out what the secretaries have given you. We need specific deadlines on when these works will be completed."This remark led to a sharp reaction from Minister Desai, who retorted angrily, "Tell us, what you did when your government was in power from 2019 to 2022. Don’t put us to shame without acknowledging your own inaction."
