Hearing on SIR notices in UP begins on January 21

Lucknow, Jan 21 (UNI) Hearings on notices served to voters under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls commenced in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) had sent notices to around 3.26 crore voters whose names did not appear in the draft electoral roll of 12.55 crore voters.
Of these, 1.4 crore voters were not found in the 2003 electoral roll during the mapping exercise with the 2025 list, while the remaining 2.22 crore voters had discrepancies in their enumeration forms, including errors in names, addresses, or parents’ names.
