New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) India has sought a verified stop to the recruitment of its nationals by the Russian Army to fight in the war against Ukraine, even as 10 Indians have been released and repatriated to the country, the MEA said on Friday.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, answering questions at a media briefing, said: “We have again taken up the issue, and we have been continuing with the process. We have been engaged with the Russian authorities both here and also in Moscow, so that people who have been serving in the Russian army can be released and repatriated to India as soon as possible.”
He said the number of Indians who contacted the ministry so far, is between 20-25 people as they wanted to be released. “Of these, 10 people have actually been released and repatriated back to India,” he added.
