Gundu Rao questions swamiji backing Shivkumar as CM

Bengaluru, July 7 (UNI) Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao today strongly reacted to comments made by Rambhapuri Mutt Swamiji, who had recently backed Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over as Chief Minister, terming such statements unnecessary and inappropriate.
“First of all, I don’t know why Swamiji has to make comments about all these kinds of issues,” Rao told reporters. He made it clear that leadership decisions are the prerogative of the Congress high command and not matters for public or religious commentary.
His remarks came after Rambhapuri Seer publicly supported Shivakumar’s claim to the top post, invoking a reported power-sharing pact within the Congress after the 2023 Assembly elections.
