Gruha Lakshmi row: Cong rejects exclusion claims

Bengaluru, June 11 (UNI) The political row over Karnataka’s Gruha Lakshmi scheme intensified on Thursday, with the Congress government firmly rejecting Opposition allegations of largescale exclusion of beneficiaries and defending the implementation of its flagship welfare programme.
Congress leader Ramesh Babu dismissed claims that women were being arbitrarily removed from the beneficiary list, asserting that the scheme continues to function smoothly and benefit a large number of households across the state.
He alleged that the criticism from the BJP was politically driven and aimed at creating confusion among women beneficiaries. According to him, the welfare initiative has maintained transparency after removing “bogus death-benefit cases” from the system.
