Govt to introduce four key Bills in Lok Sabha including one to replace MGNREGA

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) The government is set to introduce four significant bills in the Lok Sabha on Monday, as outlined in the supplementary business of the Lower House of Parliament. These legislative proposals aim to address diverse sectors including law, education, rural development and employment, aligning with the broader vision of a developed India by 2047.
Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will seek leave to introduce The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2025. This bill proposes to repeal certain outdated enactments and amend others, streamlining the legal framework to enhance clarity and efficiency.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to move for leave to introduce The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025. The bill is designed to empower universities and higher education institutions to excel in teaching, research, and innovation. It aims to establish a an apex body to coordinate and set standards for higher education and scientific institutions. Additionally, it seeks to promote autonomy and transparency through a robust accreditation system.

Delhi air quality remains ‘severe’ as fog, cold conditions persist

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Delhi continued to grapple with severe air pollution on Sunday, with the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 439 at 7 am, firmly in the ‘severe’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The situation had already worsened late Saturday night, when the AQI stood at 432 around 10 pm, before deteriorating further by Sunday morning.
