Govt taking decisive steps to boost economy, protect its interests: Himachal CM

Dharamshala, Jun 17 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday said the government was taking decisive steps to strengthen the state's economy and protect its interests. He noted that sustained efforts had paved the way for implementation of the 422 MW Kishau Dam Project, with the union Government agreeing in principle that beneficiary states would bear nearly Rs 2,000 crore towards Himachal Pradesh's power component, significantly reducing the state's financial burden.
The project is expected to generate around 100 crore units of electricity annually and revenue of nearly Rs 600 crore upon completion.
Addressing a function organized at Dharamgiri Pathiar in Kangra district, Sukhu said prudent financial management and persistent pursuit of the state's legitimate claims before the Centre had generated additional revenue worth thousands of crores over the past two-and-a-half years.
