Govt in talks with Kuki and Meitei Groups in Manipur: Amit Shah

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the government was in talks with the two ethnic groups -- Kuki and Meitei -- for a solution to the Manipur issue.
Addressing a press conference on the 100 days of Modi 3.0 here, Shah said, "In the recent days, violent incidents happened for three days. Besides these, there has been no big incident in the state. There has been peace in Manipur in the last three days, and I am hopeful that we will take control."
With regards to the two ethnic groups, Shah said, "We are talking to both of them as this is ethnic violence and there cannot be a solution between them."
"We are holding discussions with Kuki and Meitei Groups, and we have prepared a roadmap for a solution to the Manipur issue," the Home Minister said.
He further said, "We have started fencing along the India-Myanmar border. So far, 30 km fencing has been completed. We have approved the budget for the fencing of more than 1500 km border. We have almost completed deployment of CRPF personnel at strategy points."
Moreover, Shah said that some security lapses along the India-Myanmar border have also been addressed.
He said that the free movement along the border has been suspended by the Indian side, and any entry into the Indian territory will be through Visa only.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday launched an initiative to provide commodities to the people of Manipur through the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandars at reasonable prices.
