Govt encourages use of fiber boats for economic upliftment of fishermen: Maha minister

Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane said in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Monday that if fishermen use light fiber boats instead of traditional wooden boats, then the income of boat drivers and owners will rise and with that, their economic progress will be possible.
While replying to a question raised by member Milind Narvekar in the upper house, he said that the government's policy is to use fiber boats instead of wooden boats that have been in use in the state for years.
The government is also planning to provide financial assistance to boat owners so that they can buy new fiber boats, he informed and said that for this, they can approach cooperative banks, private and national banks.

Civic polls: Additional police deployed in Nashik as campaigning ends

Nasik, Jan 14 (UNI) Additional police personnel have been deployed in the city a day after campaigning for municipal elections ended on Tuesday. City police along with armed teams have taken control of lanes, squares, main roads, polling stations, and strongrooms. Nasik Election: Over 13 lakh voters will decide the fate of the Municipal Corporation
