Government benefits will be provided only to recognized villages: CM Biren

Imphal, Oct 8 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that government benefits will be provided only to recognized villages as the state braced for the problem of an increase in the number of villages.
“Villages that are not recognized or registered with the government in the state will not be eligible for government benefits, such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, power, and water supply,” the Chief Minister said on Tuesday while addressing the 70th Wildlife Week Celebration 2024.
The Chief Minister emphasized that politicians and officials must be sincere and possess a clear understanding of the region's history. He noted that many issues we face today stem from past mistakes. He urged all government officers, particularly those in the Revenue and Forest departments, to perform their duties with dedication and integrity for the nation and state. He also highlighted the importance of working within the provisions of the Constitution and laws, such as The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act and various Forest Acts.
