Prayagraj, Apr 19 (UNI) Goods worth several lakh rupees were gutted in a major fire that broke out in the temporary warehouse of Lallu Ji Tent House, which organises Kumbh Mela, in Daraganj area of Prayagraj district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, a police officer said here.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhishek Bharti said that at around 7 am, information was received that a fire broke out in the temporary warehouse of Lallu Ji, which organises Maha Kumbh, located on Kali Road. "After the information, many senior administrative officers have reached the spot. A large number of bamboo poles, tent curtains, quilts, mattresses, chairs, tables and plywood kept in the warehouse caught fire," he said.
Chief Fire Officer (CFO) RK Pandey said that with the help of 18 fire tenders from Civil Lines, Handia, Meja, Koraon, Naini, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, the fire was completely controlled after six hours. "In this, 14 fire tenders were of the fire services while four were army fire tenders. The flames and smoke of the fire were visible from a distance," he said.
