Goods train derails at Palghar railway station

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) A Mumbai-bound goods train carrying steel coils derailed near Palghar railway station on Tuesday, leading to disruption of train services on this route.
The last six wagons of freight train, loaded with steel coils, derailed and fell on adjacent loop line (side track), disrupting train services on railway line number 2, 3 and 4 at Palghar railway station.
The rail traffic on this route will remain suspended for at least four to five hours, sources said.

Bombay HC issues notice to EC on plea against decision to skip VVPATs

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) The Bombay High Court's Nagpur bench issued notice to the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday about a petition challenging its decision not to use Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) enabled electronic voting machines (EVMs) to conduct the Maharashtra local civic body elections scheduled to begin from December 2, 2025.
