Girish Mahajan dominates Nashik as Shinde faction falters

Nashik, Jan 17 (UNI) Despite benefting from large scale defection of leaders from other parties to its fold before the elections, the Shiv Sena (Shinde) faction failed to retain power in the important Nashik Municipal Corporation, raising serious questions about the party's approach and influence in the corporation.
Under the leadership of Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, the BJP delivered an emphatic performance, winning 72 seats in the Nashik Municipal Corporation. The party improved its tally from 57 to 72 seats, securing a clear majority.
With this decisive mandate, the BJP has returned to power independently, a development that will significantly influence the functioning of the municipal corporation in the coming term. In contrast, the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) managed to win only 26 seats, indicating potential political challenges ahead for the party.
