Gill, Kishan tons propel India to 402 against Afghanistan in 2nd ODI

Lucknow, June 17 (UNI) Captain Shubman Gill struck a magnificent 154 and Ishan Kishan hammered a scintillating 125 as India piled up a daunting 402 all out in 49.5 overs against Afghanistan in the second ODI of the Afghanistan tour of India at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday.
Electing to bowl after winning the toss, Afghanistan made an early breakthrough when Mohammad Saleem Safi dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for four in the second over. However, the early success proved short-lived as Gill and Rohit Sharma launched a swift counterattack.
Rohit looked in sublime touch, driving and pulling with authority as he raced to 48 off just 39 deliveries, striking six fours and two sixes. He shared an 87-run partnership with Gill before falling agonisingly short of a half-century when a sharp googly from Rashid Khan breached his defence and crashed into the stumps.
