Funds meant for SC and ST students, being spent on construction of roads in Bihar: Kanhaiya

Patna, May 13 (UNI) Firebrand Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Tuesday alleged that the Nitish Kumar government had spent funds allocated for SC and ST students, on the construction of roads and bridges in Bihar.
Kumar told media persons here that the overall education scenario in Bihar was pathetic as there was no degree College in 358 blocks of Bihar, while the shortage of teachers in both colleges and schools of the state was a well-known fact. It was all the more surprising to note that funds meant for the welfare of SC and ST
students were spent on the construction of roads and bridges in Bihar, he added.
" Who has given the right to Nitish Kumar government for spending the funds of SC and ST students on construction of roads and bridges ", Congress leader asked and added that despite tall claims made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in improving the education scenario, students had no option but to go to outside Bihar in quest of quality education, as there was no good institution in the state, he added.
" Instead of financially supporting poor students to pursue their studies, Nitish Kumar government was burdening them with loans even before getting jobs", Kanhaiya said, adding that students who had taken loans for their studies were being tortured by the Nitish Kumar government for the recovery of loans from them. Those students who completed their studies but did not get jobs so far were also being harassed as the Nitish Kumar government was sending loan agents for the recovery of loans from them, he added.
" Nitish Kumar is Chief Minister of Bihar for the last 20 years and Narendra Modi is Prime Minister for the last 11 years but the double engine government did not take any step to change the fates of students of Bihar", Congress leader said adding that double engine government had exhausted all its energy for development of Gujarat. Employment opportunities were being created in Gujarat while bullet trains would also run there, whereas people of Bihar had been continuously extending their support to the BJP for the formation of government both in Bihar and at the Centre, he pointed out.
