Frozen rivers turn deadly: Lahaul-Spiti warns tourists

Keylong, Jan 15 (UNI) The Lahaul Spiti district administration in Himachal Pradesh has issued a stringent advisory cautioning tourists and local residents against venturing near frozen riverbanks, particularly along the Chandra and the Bhaga rivers, warning that such acts pose a grave threat to life during the harsh winter months.
The advisory was issued after a recent video surfaced on social media showing two tourists making a narrow escape after approaching the edge of a frozen river.
Officials said the tourists mistook the ice-covered surface for stable ground, but the ice suddenly cracked due to strong undercurrents beneath, nearly pulling them into the icy waters. Timely intervention by local people and rescuers averted a major tragedy.

Sant Kabir Nagar, Feb 11 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of Maulana Shamshul Huda, a British citizen originally from Sant Kabir Nagar district.

Allahabad HC stays demolition of properties in Hamirpur

Prayagraj, Feb 11 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has stayed the proposed demolition of properties belonging to petitioners in Hamirpur district of the Bundelkhand region until further orders.
The petitioners approached the court seeking protection of their properties from bulldozer action. The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for February 25.
