From Salman Khan's advice to Anees Bazmee's approval: Kubbra Sait opens up about her career trajectory

Mumbai, May 11 (UNI) Actress Kubbra Sait, widely recognised for her breakthrough role as Kukoo in "Sacred Games", recalls how an unassuming role in "Ready" ultimately became a decisive inflection point in her professional journey.
She revealed that she auditioned for the role wearing a little black dress and was eagerly awaiting Anees Bazmee's approval in his office. Initially, her character in the film had no dialogue and she was cast as a maid.
However, Salman Khan later suggested making her character more interesting by having her speak broken English. Bazmee liked Khan's idea, and that's why dialogues were added to Sait's character. This small change became a memorable on-screen moment for her.
Sharing her experience, Sait said, "It was the same audition where I wore a little black dress and was waiting for Anees Bazmee sir's approval. I was going to play the role of a maid in the film 'Ready' and was very excited about it. I had immense confidence while doing this film because I had never done any film before.
"Initially, my character did not even have any dialogues. But then Salman Khan said why not make this maid speak broken English. Anees sir liked the idea and that's how I got dialogues in the film," she said.
Sait stated, "Although at that time everyone told me that I was crazy and impatient to play such a small role of Sunaina Kapoor in 'Ready'. But if I hadn't done 'Ready', if I hadn't been so crazy, I probably would never have become 'Kuku'. Never say that a role is small. There are no small roles, there are small actors."
Sait revealed that many around her felt that accepting a small role in such a big commercial film was not the right decision. However, the actress believes that the film proved to be a turning point in her career. She believes that if she hadn't taken this opportunity, then she might not have had the opportunity to play the iconic character of Kukoo later on.
She concluded her story by inspiring aspiring actors to never take any role for granted. Even a decade later, she considers "Ready" to be the most important milestone in her acting career. UNI NST SSP
