Fraudsters pose as vigilance cops to dupe octogenarian doctor in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 11 (UNI) Six criminals posing themselves as anti-corruption vigilance wing sleuths conducted a fake raid at the house of an octogenarian physician to decamp with cash, gold ornaments and household valuables at his native village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, police said today.
The miscreants barged into the house of physician Dr Jalil Ahamad Khan at Oldhi village under Derabish police station yesterday afternoon and faked their identity as vigilance cops. Later they conducted a search operation to detect movable and immovable assets, disproportionate to the physician's known source of income.
Dr Khan, a popular physician in the area, had retired from service at the government medical college at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand two decades ago. Post-retirement, he opted to live in the native village to serve the local residents.
