Fourteen panchayats declared TB-free in Ranchi

Ranchi, Jan 19 (UNI) Fourteen panchayats of Ranchi district were declared “TB-Free Panchayats” as a three-day orientation and awareness programme on Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) and tuberculosis elimination commenced at the Sadar Hospital campus here on Monday. The programme will continue from January 19 to January 21, with a focus on strengthening community participation in public health delivery and TB eradication efforts.
A one-day orientation programme for members of the Jan Arogya Samiti was organised on the first day to familiarise them with their responsibilities, operational structure, and role in ensuring quality health services at the grassroots level. The programme aimed to enhance people’s participation in health governance and strengthen services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
The event was attended by State Nodal Officer (TB & CPHC Coordination) Dr Kamlesh Kumar, State Programme Coordinator Akay Minz, District TB Officer Dr S Baske, District Programme Manager Praveen Kumar Singh, District Programme Coordinator (Sahiya) Preeti Chaudhary, District Programme Coordinator (TB) Rakesh Rai, Regional Coordinator Shweta Verma, Sampa Roy (TRIF), along with mukhiyas from various blocks, community health officers, and other health workers.

Former Assam Congress president resigns from party ahead of elections

Guwahati, Feb 16 (UNI) Former president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Bhupen Borah, has resigned from the grand old party, barely a few months ahead of the elections, signalling a divide among the ranks and files of the party.
Borah, who led the party from July 2021, has sent his resignation letter to the AICC top brass, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Borah represented the Bihpuria constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2016. After he resigned from the party, Borah also removed his designation from his social media handles.
