Four students killed by lightning in Malappuram, one dead due to landslide in Punalur

Malappuram, May 12 (UNI) A tragic lightning strike claimed the lives of four students at a hilltop viewpoint here on Tuesday, while a separate rain-related landslide accident in Punalur in Kollam left a young worker dead amid continuing heavy rains across Kerala.
The lightning strike occurred at the Pantalloor hill viewpoint near Vellila in Mankada, where a group of seven friends had gathered during rainy weather. The victims were identified as Siyad (18), Fahad (19), Rahees (20), and Bahath (18).
Locals rushed the students to Manjeri Medical College Hospital after several of them collapsed following the strike. However, four students succumbed to their injuries, with reports stating that two had died before reaching the hospital. Three others sustained severe burn injuries and are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
