Former union minister Pradeep Jain Aditya and 12 Congress leaders sentenced to two years in jail in 12-year-old protest case

Jhansi, Sep 12 (UNI) Former union Minister and senior Congress leader Pradeep Jain Aditya, along with 12 other Congress workers, has been sentenced to two years in jail by the MP/MLA court in Jhansi. The verdict was delivered on Friday evening in connection with a 12-year-old case related to a highway blockade during a protest in 2013.

The court, while pronouncing the judgment, also imposed fines on all 13 convicts. The case dates back to June 11, 2013, when Jain and his supporters blocked the Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway for nearly six hours, demanding an end to power cuts in the Bundelkhand region. The protest caused severe disruption to public movement and daily life.

Raj HC dismisses petitions against demolition of encroachments in 50Km zone along Indo Pak border

Jaipur, Jul 13 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court on Monday dismissed petitions against the "encroachment" demolition drive being carried out by authorities in the border belt of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sriganganagar and Bikaner, holding that "the issue of National Security is Supreme (paramount)".
Dismissing the petitions, a Single Bench of Justice Sameer Jain held that normally followed procedural rules of natural justice can be relaxed or dropped to the demands of national security.
