Former PM I.K. Gujral's son duped of Rs ₹7.68 Cr in online fraud; Delhi Police freeze ₹4.28 Cr

New Delhi, Jun 18 (UNI) Delhi Police have launched an investigation into an online fraud involving former MP Naresh Kumar Gujral, son of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, after fraudsters allegedly cheated him of ₹7.68 crore by impersonating him on WhatsApp.
According to police, an e-FIR was registered on June 16 following a complaint filed by Naresh Gujral. The accused allegedly used Gujral's photograph on WhatsApp and contacted one of his employees while posing as him.
Claiming that he was in a meeting, the fraudster instructed the employee to transfer money through RTGS to a specified bank account. Acting on the instructions, the employee transferred funds, resulting in a loss of ₹7.68 crore.
A senior police official said that immediate action was initiated after the complaint was received, and an amount of ₹4.28 crore out of the total defrauded sum has been marked as lien or put on hold in various banks.
Police are making efforts to trace and apprehend those involved in the fraud.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
