Former Odisha ACF convicted in disproportionate assets case

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16 (UNI) The Additional Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar on Friday convicted former Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of Puri Divisional Office, Suresh Chandra Rath, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.1,00,000.
Rath was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets disproportionate beyond to his known sources of income.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for stoppage of Rath’s pension, Vigilance sources said.
