Food safety: Inspections conducted at hotels near schools

Kochi, June 22 (UNI) As part of ensuring safety of food items selling near school premises, the Kerala Food Safety Department has conducted inspections at hundreds of hotels in the State.
On June 18 and 19, inspections were carried out in 1,502 establishments near schools across the state.
As a result of various violations, operations of seven shops were suspended. Rectification notices were issued to 227 establishments, and penalties have been imposed on 98 shops. A total of 428 surveillance samples and 61 statutory samples were collected for testing.
