FlixBus partners with Green Drive Mobility to launch Electric Intercity Bus Services in AP

Visakhapatnam, May 8 (UNI) FlixBus India today said it has partnered with Green Drive Mobility to launch electric intercity bus services between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, marking a major step towards electrification of long-distance bus travel in India.
The companies announced that four electric buses would be introduced in the first phase on the Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam corridor, one of Andhra Pradesh’s busiest intercity travel routes.
According to the companies, the initiative aims to provide passengers with a comfortable and technology-enabled travel experience while improving environmental sustainability compared to conventional diesel-operated coaches.
The collaboration combines FlixBus’ global travel-technology platform, digital ticketing systems and demand-generation network with Green Drive Mobility’s electric fleet operations and mobility infrastructure.
The companies said the project aligns with India’s broader push towards cleaner mobility and public transport electrification while contributing to lower emissions in the intercity transport segment.
Passengers travelling on the route will have access to zero-emission electric bus travel on a tank-to-wheel basis, digitally enabled ticket booking through the FlixBus platform and modern long-distance travel amenities.
Speaking on the partnership, Harikrishna, Founder and CEO, Green Drive Mobility, said the initiative represented a significant milestone in expanding electric intercity mobility in India.
“Deploying EV buses on the Vijayawada–Vizag corridor allows us to provide a sustainable travel option while reducing carbon emissions and enhancing passenger comfort,” he said.
Surya Khurana , Managing Director, FlixBus India, said India remained one of the world’s most dynamic intercity travel markets and highlighted the potential for technology-enabled and environmentally sustainable transportation solutions.
He said the partnership with Green Drive Mobility would help improve access to reliable, affordable and cleaner intercity travel while supporting the Government of India’s transport electrification goals.
The Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam corridor connects two major economic and cultural hubs of Andhra Pradesh and witnesses strong passenger demand throughout the year.
The companies said the deployment of electric buses is expected to reduce carbon emissions while improving the quality and reliability of regional intercity connectivity.
