Flash floods trigger widespread road closures in Lahaul-Spiti; Commuters told to avoid travel

Keylong, June 24 (UNI) A series of flash floods wreaked havoc in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti, disrupting key road links and stranding several vehicles. The district administration has issued advisories urging commuters to avoid travel on blocked stretches until restoration work is complete.
According to the latest bulletin from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the Manali–Leh National Highway (NH-03) has been blocked near Zingzing Bar following a flash flood. Similarly, the Darcha–Shinkula Road has been washed away around 9 km ahead of Zanskar Sumdo towards Shinkula Top, leaving the entire route unmotorable. Both closures were confirmed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and local police.
Another major closure was reported on NH-505, where a flash flood near Lossar disrupted traffic between Gramphu and Lossar. Around 2–4 vehicles were stranded due to the overflowing nullah, and the Garg Construction Company has been mobilized to carry out urgent restoration work.

Uttarakhand vigilance department nabs JE red-handed with ₹50k bribe money

Dehradun, May 21 (UNI) Uttarakhand Vigilance on Thursday nabbed a Junior Engineer (JE) taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 in connection with a tender work pertaining to the Pashulok Barrage in Rishikesh.
According to vigilance officers, the complainant, a contractor, had lodged his complaint on the state vigilance establishment's toll-free number 1064 stating that he was a government contractor and had been working on several contracts in the past.
