Five killed, one seriously injured in car crash near Mohol on Pune–Solapur Highway

Solapur, Jan 18 (UNI) In a tragic road accident on the Pune–Solapur Highway near Devadi village, five devotees lost their lives and one woman was seriously injured late Saturday night. Police said on Sunday that the victims, all residents of Navi Mumbai, were travelling to Akkalkot for darshan at the shrine of Shri Swami Samarth.
They were heading towards Akkalkot from Panvel in an Ertiga car. According to preliminary information, the accident occurred near the Devadi Phata when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle. The car veered off the road and rammed into a roadside tree, resulting in a devastating crash. The impact was so severe that the Ertiga was completely mangled.
Five occupants died on the spot, while one woman sustained serious injuries, said police. All the passengers were friends travelling together on the pilgrimage. Four of the deceased have been identified as: Mala Ravi Salve (60), resident of Panchsheel Nagar slum, Sector 18, Panvel, Archana Tukaram Bhandare (47), Sector 7, Kanda Colony, Panvel, Vishal Narendra Bhosale (41), RBI MSO, Room No. 8, Railway Colony, Panvel, and Amar Patil, resident of Kharghar Anand Mali. The fifth deceased person has not been identified.
