Fire disrupts operations at NMDC’s Kirandul plant in Chhattisgarh, causing significant losses

Dantewada, Aug 12 (UNI) A major fire last night disrupted operations at the National Mineral Development Corporation’s (NMDC) Kirandul plant in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, resulting in substantial financial losses and halting iron ore production.
The blaze originated on a conveyor belt near the Fine Ore Camp in Ward No. 12, quickly spreading before being brought under control after a prolonged firefighting effort.
According to NMDC officials, fire tenders were deployed immediately, and the company’s in-house security and technical teams worked through the night alongside the fire brigade to contain the blaze. “Our primary focus was to protect the facility and minimize operational downtime.
