Fire breaks out in Pvt hospital in Cuttack,  all patients shifted to other hospitals

Cuttack, July 13 (UNI) A fire broke out in the ICU of a private hospital which later spread to another Nursing Home, treating newborn babies, located near Purighat Police Station in Cuttack city on Saturday.
Official sources said the fire was first noticed in the ICU of the Radha Raman hospital on the third floor which later spread to the Trisha nursing Home where over 25 babies were undergoing treatment.
At least three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames and the critical patients in the ICU were rescued by the fire service personnel.
Sources said 12 critical patients in the ICU were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital while the new born babies undergoing treatment at the Trisha Nursing Home were also rescued and shifted to the Sishu Bhawan.
Altogether over 25 babies were undergoing treatment in the Trisha Nursing Home , 12 of them were in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) when the mishap took place.
DG, Fire Services Sudhansu Sarangi said the fire has been brought under control and completely doused by the fire tenders.
State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said all the 12 ICU patients have been rescued and admitted in the SCB Medical College and Hospital while steps are being taken for the treatment of new born babies rescued by the fire service personnel.
He said a High level committee will probe into the fire incident and strong action will be taken if the Nursing home authorities have flouted the rules in keeping and maintaining the fire fighting arrangements.
